also brendan benson tix go on sale tomorrow....I need those....I love brendan benson. Honestly check out Lapalco his new album....it's truly amazing, honestly!

don't believe me? hear what Jack White said:
"i want to tell everyone about my new favorite album. it's by a detroit songwriter named Brendan Benson, and the album is called "lapalco". it's out now, and it is the best thing i've heard in years. i went with me mates to see him play in toledo last night, and there were only twenty people there, i couldn't believe how good it was, this man is a master song craftsman."

I like buffy and related subjects way too much...... [20 Apr 2002|12:39am]
From Jamesmarsters.com

GHOST OF THE ROBOT news

The first GHOST OF THE ROBOT album is on the fast track, set to be recorded in the next three weeks, with a release date in June. The band has also been pared down to its essential elements: James Marsters and Charlie DeMars. Other band members have come and gone (like Doug Petrie, who has taken his leave of the band for some mysterious reason he likes to call "a life"), but GHOST OF THE ROBOT will be cutting their album with drummer Aaron Anderson and bassist Kevin McPhearson. The studio sessions will be done in Sacramento and recorded by one of the engineers of the band CAKE. The album will consist of ten to twelve songs, and all promised to be "sicka than sick". Word.

Also on the GHOST OF THE ROBOT front, the band will be jetting off to France this summer to play a 400-seat house in Paris.

Why is he playing a show on his b-day? and how do his shows sell out so damn quickly? is he really talented, or do girls just like seeing spike in person?

14 Below - April 20th, 2002
James will be performing at 14 Below in Santa Monica, California, on April 20th, 2002 at 8:30pm. He'll be followed by Common Rotation, Urban Family Dog, and Four Star Mary. Only those 21 and over will be admitted. This show is currently SOLD OUT.

"Pretty Together" review
Sloan

For the full review go here

...But it is in pair of Chris Murphy compositions "The Other Man" and "The Life of a Working Girl" that really stand out on this record. The first is a mid-tempo jangly guitar, bass driven song that positions the singer, as the third person in a love triangle. Or is he? "He knows that I'm a friend of yours / But doesn't know I've crossed the line" certainly adds credence to this, but the final line betrays that this all might be the singer's fantasy.

"The Life of a Working Girl" is just that, a melancholy ("Does she get lonely like I do / If I could only see her all the time") examination of a woman consumed by the workaday world. Her examiner sings of her ambition, but "I can carbon date her age, she's not keen to / It's a trap, a door / In the stage she can go through / Until the encore". Murphy sings in a very plaintive tone, with only acoustic guitar and droning organ as accompaniment.

thank god someone finally decided!!!

A California state appeals court has ruled it is not libel to call someone a "skank" or even a "big skank" on the radio -- describing the word as "a derogatory slang term of recent vintage that has no generally recognized meaning."

Why did the rock sing so much tonight? I don't know....

Oh! Jimmy, horatio, tracy, chris, remember their x-mas song? I loved it, tonight they debuted a new song "everybody cool out, everybody chill" or something like that.....aww they cut it off! rude! anyway I should go now...
